A vehicle stolen in Stafford County was recovered after it was involved in a pursuit in Smyth County.
On January 12 at 11:05 a.m., Deputy R.W. Gill responded to CarNoVa (3899 Jefferson Davis Highway) for a report of a vehicle theft. On January 13 at 4:08 p.m., Detective R. Mervil received information through an ongoing investigation that a wanted person was in the area of South Gateway Drive. Detective Mervil notified First Sergeant D.F. Purcell Jr. and Deputy E.C. Taylor with the Special Problems Unit who responded to the area. Upon arrival, the deputies observed the suspect’s vehicle in the parking lot of 28 South Gateway Drive.

In March of 2020, Deputy T.A. Vasquez began an investigation into an embezzlement. The investigation revealed the suspect, Sabrina Bermudez, 37, of Dumfries, was working as a property manager for an apartment complex. While employed, Bermudez was collecting leasing fees, but showing the fees had been waived in the business’ system. The money collected was never deposited into the business’ account. ...
