A Criminal record obtained from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office will reflect only those records on file with this department’s records division. For all other information, please contact the following:
Requests for Criminal Record Checks will be completed only for an individual requesting the information regarding themselves. Businesses may not request checks for a prospective employee, nor will juvenile records be disseminated.
Requests for a Stafford Criminal Record Check may be made in person or by mail. For in-person requests, the individual needs to personally visit the Stafford County Sheriff's Office (located at 1225 Courthouse Rd., Stafford, VA 22554), Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, and bring a form of identification. Requests can be mailed to:

Please enclose the following:
- Criminal Record Check request form (PDF or Word) filled out with the requestor information, signed and notarized
- A photocopy of one of the following identification documents:
- Current Driver's License
- Current Virginia Identification Card (issued by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles)
- Current U.S. Passport
- A self-addressed stamped envelope
- Current legal address (including APO, if applicable)
