Jay-Z might have 99 problems, but a wanted 29-year-old Spotsylvania man had some of his own while traveling on 95.

On July 22nd at approximately 10:18 a.m. Deputy M.N. Sayegh was traveling on Southbound I-95 near mile marker 136. While doing so, a Nissan caught her attention when it began drifting out of its lane. It had drifted far enough out of its lane another driver had to swerve onto the shoulder in order to avoid getting struck. Deputy Sayegh was able to get alongside the Nissan to see what the driver was doing and discovered his eyes appeared to be closed.

Considering I-95 isn’t the best place for a nap, especially while behind the wheel, Deputy Sayegh conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver inquired if there was a problem. Due to the near collision and signs of intoxication, there was certainly a problem or two. The amount of problems mounted even higher when the driver was identified as Luke Williamson, for he was wanted out of Fairfax for felony hit and run. It was also discovered he had a prior DUI in 2018.

Williamson was charged with driving under the influence second offense within five to ten years, the traffic lane violation, and served on his outstanding warrant. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

We thank Deputy Sayegh for keeping our roads safe and so did Williamson. Remember, drive sober or get pulled over.
