A 24-year-old was arrested in connection to a vehicle break-in due to witnesses and K-9 Ruby.

On June 1st at approximately 12:31 a.m. Deputy N.J. Amato responded to Dover Place for a vehicle break in. It was advised an unknown male broke into the victim’s vehicle. Deputy Amato made contact with the victim as additional deputies began searching the area.

The victim’s vehicle had damages consistent with an attempt to hotwire the vehicle. A family member of the victim observed the suspect crawling through the vehicle’s window. After being spotted, the suspect took off on foot. A witness observed the suspect running and provided a description. Sergeant A.T. Leckemby located a juvenile in the area believed to be connected as Deputy S.M. Eastman responded with K-9 Ruby.

K-9 Ruby conducted a track into the Lowe’s parking lot where deputies located an occupied vehicle. The driver matched the description provided and provided numerous different false names. He was detained and eventually identified as Ibrian Hernandez, of Stafford. During an inventory search of the vehicle, which had numerous problems of its own, deputies located tools consistent with the damages to the victim’s vehicle. In addition to the first break in, Deputy Amato would make contact with another victim on Grosvenor Lane. The victim would also have a broken window and almost identical damages to her vehicle.

Hernandez was charged with conspiring to commit grand larceny, possession of burglary tools, attempted grand larceny of a vehicle, felony destruction of property, identity theft, providing a false identity to law enforcement, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, driving without a license, improper display of a license plate, altering a license plate, driving an unregistered vehicle, as well as, driving without insurance. Criminal complaints for felony destruction of property, attempted grand larceny, and wearing a mask in public are pending for the juvenile.

Great work to the vigilant witnesses and to K-9 Ruby for conducting an excellent track.
