Yet another DUI offense occurred yesterday resulting in a Jeep being overturned.

On May 6th at approximately 6:37 p.m. Deputy W.E. Trainor responded to the area of Richmond Highway and Twin Brook Lane for an overturned vehicle. It was advised a white Jeep had flipped.

As the road needed to be shut down, Deputy Trainor made contact with the driver. Miraculously, the driver only had minor injuries. While conversing with the driver, Deputy Trainor observed signs of intoxication, including the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. After he was done being seen by EMT staff, field sobriety tests were conducted. The driver would admit to consuming two shots of vodka prior to getting behind the wheel.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 secured bond. Drunk driving is extremely dangerous to everyone on the roads. If you plan to consume alcohol, plan to have a sober ride.
