On May 4th, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office unveiled their F.O.C.U.S. Campaign to combat on-going traffic issues. The day after, an unfocused driver was held accountable for his reckless riding.

On May 5th at approximately 3:06 p.m. Deputy S.A. Russo with the Traffic Safety Unit responded to the area of Garrisonville Road and Furnace Road for a hit and run. The victim advised he was traveling Westbound on Garrisonville Road in the left lane. While stopped at the traffic light, a van attempted to go between him and the curb. The van driver underestimated the size of his vehicle and struck the victim’s vehicle. The victim tried to have the suspect pull over, but instead the suspect took off.

The suspect vehicle was located at Sheetz, located at 1175 Garrisonville Road. Deputy Russo made contact with the driver, identified as Jacob Adams, 40, of Stafford. Adams admitted to striking the victim’s vehicle, not having a license, and that the vehicle was unregistered. Upon further inspection, it was discovered Adams had a revoked license related to a previous DUI, and no insurance as well.

Adams was charged with third offense driving on a revoked license, driving in a manner that endangers others while revoked, hit and run, failure to obtain registration, improper registration, as well as, driving without insurance. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
