A 35-year-old Stafford woman was charged with DUI early Sunday morning.

On September 17th at approximately 3:09 a.m. Sergeant E.E. West and Deputy W.E. Trainor responded to the 700 block of Mountain View Road for a single vehicle accident. A vehicle ran off the road and collided with a tree. Luckily, the occupants only sustained minor injuries.

One of the occupants advised they were coming home from a nightclub when the crash occurred. When the topic of who was driving came up, that occupant advised her friend “Jesus” was the driver, but he ran off before deputies arrived. After confronted with the evidence deputies found, the occupant admitted she was in fact the driver, and "Jesus" was not in the vehicle.

After conducting field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. She was held until sober.
