A 22-year-old Stafford man was arrested for DUI as he wrote a confession at the scene of an accident early Friday morning.

On August 11th at 4:30 a.m. Deputy K.L. Steffenhagen was patrolling the area of Northampton Boulevard near Brantford Drive when she noticed debris in the roadway from a damaged blue Toyota Camry. She then observed a male in the driver’s seat of a damaged grey Mazda CX-3 parked nearby.

Deputy Steffenhagen made contact with the male in the Mazda who relayed he had just struck the unoccupied Toyota and was leaving a note. He proceeded to produce a note declaring, “Hello, I hit your car.”

The driver of the Mazda had glassy, bloodshot eyes and was offered field sobriety tests. He was arrested for DUI and held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober. The owner of the damaged Toyota was provided information for insurance.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
