A 54-year-old Stafford man was arrested early July 5th after he took a nap at a green light in South Stafford.

On July 5th at approximately 12:09 a.m. Deputy D.S. Jett responded to the intersection of Warrenton Road and I95 Northbound for the report of a disturbance. The caller advised there was a man asleep behind the wheel at a traffic light. When Deputy Jett arrived, it wasn’t hard to locate the suspect vehicle considering others were honking at it, for it was not moving while the light was green.

As Deputy Jett made contact with the driver, he noticed a case of beer in the backseat and two open cans of Twisted Tea in the center console. Deputy Jett observed the unmistakable signs of the driver being under the influence; however, it wasn’t clear how much he had to drink. When Deputy Jett asked how much he consumed, the driver advised “not enough”. Deputy Jett begged to differ.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, as well as, drinking while driving. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $1,000 secured bond.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
