Alcoholic Scavenger Hunt:
While many are familiar with the game Where’s Waldo, deputies had to play bottle scouting during a recent traffic stop. Can you spot all the bottles?
On August 26th at approximately 1:34 a.m. Sergeant B.U. Demirci was traveling Southbound on Richmond Highway when he observed the vehicle in front of him fail to maintain the lane of travel. Sergeant Demirci conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at the Sunoco gas station, located at 201 Emancipation Highway. When Sergeant Demirci observed the driver stumble out of the vehicle, he radioed for assistance.
Deputy L.T. Ward responded to assist and made contact with the driver. The 28-year-old driver had bloodshot eyes and the strong well-known odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. While the driver advised he only consumed roughly two drinks, his vehicle would tell a different story. Empty container after empty container was located.
The driver, as it turns out, had his license revoked, and a former DUI charge. He was arrested for driving under the influence second offense in five years, refusal, and driving while revoked. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
