The phrase “two birds, one stone” comes to mind. Deputies were able to locate two wanted suspects this weekend and add additional charges.

On October 8th, at approximately 4:39 p.m. deputies received information that Jayshon Bates, 20, of Stafford, was in the Garrison Woods neighborhood. Bates was wanted for seven active warrants in multiple jurisdictions, to include grand larceny, assault, and altering a drug screening. Deputy B.E. Vaughn, Deputy A.T. Leckemby, Deputy C.R. Newman, and Sergeant D.T. Aubrecht all responded to the neighborhood and began canvassing the area. Deputy Vaughn observed a vehicle parked in a handicap space. In the driver’s seat was Bates. Deputy Vaughn ordered Bates out of the vehicle; however, Bates did not comply. Bates started the vehicle and put it in drive.

Bates must have heard of Stafford County’s reputation and decided against fleeing. Bates exited the vehicle without incident and was arrested. Suspected controlled substances were located within the vehicle.

Bystanders advised Deputy Newman and Deputy Leckemby that Bates was there with a female thought to be, Destiny Heiston, 19, of King George. Heiston had active warrants for grand larceny and three counts of larceny of a firearm, all from Stafford. Deputy Leckemby and Deputy Newman searched the area and quickly located Heiston. Heiston was also found to have suspected controlled substances.

This two for one deal allowed deputies to take two wanted individuals off the streets. Bates was served on all seven of his warrants; whereas, Heiston was served on her four. They both were additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance. Bates was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond and Heiston was held on a $2,500 secured bond.
