A Facebook date did not have the desired outcome for two men, as they were robbed at a local motel Saturday and evidence indicated their dates were in on the crime.

On September 3rd at 12:29 a.m. Deputy D.S. Jett responded to the Super 8 at 557 Warrenton Road for a robbery. The investigation revealed two adult male victims had met two women on Facebook and arranged a date. The females requested the males procure a room at the Super 8, and the victims happily obliged.

The victims and the two females had settled into the room when there was a knock at the door and someone announced, “Room service.” Three masked men proceeded to enter the room, with at least two of them brandishing knives. The females quickly scampered to the bathroom and locked themselves inside, while the males were robbed of their property.

The three suspects fled with cell phones, a wallet, cash, credit cards, shoes and alcohol. Conveniently, once the suspects fled, the two females left because the situation was too overwhelming.

Sergeant B.U. Demirci located the suspects in a red Ford Fusion at the nearby Mr. B’s convenience store. Deputy A.J. Charoenthep activated an alert on one of the victim’s cell phones, which began to play in the suspect’s vehicle, further confirmation of their involvement.

The suspects were identified as Milton Espinal Lanza, 19, Eder Gaona, 20, both of Fredericksburg and Orlando Duran Guevara, 23, of Spotsylvania. Detective B.A. Talbot responded to assist with interviews. A check of the suspect’s social media revealed photos of the suspects with the two females, indicating their involvement in the crime as well. One of the females was determined to be a juvenile.

Espinal Lanza, Gaona, and Duran Guevara were each charged with robbery, breaking and entering and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They were each held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Charges are pending for the two females. The victims were not injured during the robbery.
