A Stafford County man faces several serious charges after an early morning traffic stop yesterday.

On July 29th at 12:02 a.m. the Special Problems Unit was conducting a detail in the area of Grafton Village subdivision. Deputy M.A. Pearce witnessed a Toyota Camry pass through a red traffic signal at the intersection of Town and Country Drive and White Oak Road without stopping.

A traffic stop was conducted with the assistance of First Sergeant D.F. Purcell, Jr. and Deputy E.C. Taylor. The driver was identified as Jonathan Ramey, 20. Deputies developed probable cause to search the car and located 24 grams of suspected crack cocaine. A search of Ramey revealed a concealed, loaded handgun in his waistband.

Ramey was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a firearm with drugs, concealed weapon, altered/removed serial number from a firearm and the traffic violation. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond.

Great work by this unit getting these drugs off the streets of Stafford!
