A juvenile is facing assault charges after firing a water pellet gun at another juvenile in South Stafford Thursday afternoon.

On June 16th at 1:22 p.m. Deputy F.A. Martinez responded to the Walmart at 11 Village Parkway for a disturbance with a weapon. The investigation revealed the victim was near the Walmart entrance when a vehicle drove by and a passenger brandished a pellet gun. The passenger fired several water pellets, striking the victim in the stomach. The victim was not injured by the pellets.

Deputies were armed with the suspect vehicle description and tag, and soon located the driver at his residence. It did not take long for the driver to provide the identity of the shooter.

Deputies located the shooter at his residence in Stafford and advised his mother of the incident. As a result of the investigation, the 16-year-old male is being charged with assault.

Parents are encouraged to talk with their children about the dangers and criminal charges associated with brandishing and shooting water pellet guns at other people.
