Second Offense DUI Arrest

A repeat DUI offender was arrested last night without injury thanks to the quick thinking of Stafford County deputies.

On May 7th at 8:47 p.m. deputies responded to the area of U.S. 1 and Centreport Parkway for an intoxicated driver complaint. A witness reported a white Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on U.S. 1 without illuminated headlights and going into the oncoming lane of travel.

Sergeant L.A. Burgess located the vehicle stopped in the roadway on U.S. 1 near Warrenton Road. He found the driver slumped over the wheel, with the car in gear and her foot on the brake. First Sergeant B.W. Collins arrived and strategically placed his patrol car in front of the Nissan, to prevent the car from continuing if the driver took her foot off the brake.

The deputies continued to knock on the vehicle window and were prepared to break the window, when the driver woke up. They instructed her to put the car in park, but as they feared, she instead lifted her foot off the brake. Thanks to First Sgt. Collins, the Nissan rolled harmlessly into the back of the patrol car.

Deputy A.J. Charoenthep arrived and identified the driver as Juana Guerra, 48, of Manassas. She was arrested for DUI second offense in five to ten years and held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond. There was no damage to the patrol car or Guerra’s car from the contact.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
