A Stafford man was arrested for an outstanding warrant and accumulated new charges after a brief barricade in South Stafford yesterday morning.

On April 14th at 7:02 a.m. deputies attempted to serve an active Fredericksburg Capias for Daniel Howdershelt, 33, on Edwards Drive. The underlying offenses on the Capias were possession of a controlled substance and burglary.

Instead of giving up, Howdershelt barricaded himself in a downstairs room. Deputies attempted negotiations for approximately 20 minutes as Howdershelt became less and less responsive. Forced entry was made to the room and Howdershelt continued to resist the efforts of law enforcement to take him into custody. A taser was utilized and Howdershelt was arrested.

Deputy B.W. Gildea located controlled paraphernalia with Howdershelt and seized the item. Howdershelt was served the outstanding Fredericksburg warrant and additionally charged with possession of controlled paraphernalia, obstruction of justice, and fleeing from law enforcement. He was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
