Last weekend the Special Problems Unit focused their attention on locating wanted suspects on the Warrenton Road corridor. They had a successful venture making four arrests and serving 20 warrants from five different jurisdictions. If you have an active warrant- do not come to Stafford to hide!

On April 1st at 6:30 p.m. deputies encountered Jermine Gary, 40, at the Days Inn on Simpson Road. Gary was wanted for a violation of a court order in Spotsylvania. He was arrested and subsequently released on a personal recognizance bond by the magistrate.

The Unit next focused their attention on Steven Logan, 52, who had two active probation violation warrants from Fredericksburg and was rumored to be staying at the Days Inn. The rumors were correct, as Logan was seen leaving the motel just after 11:00 p.m. and a traffic stop was conducted on I-95. Logan was arrested and held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

A passenger in the car was released, but the deputies determined she had lied about her identity. Her actual name was Crystal Smith, 31. If you guessed she had an active warrant, you would be correct! Smith was found to be wanted out of Prince William for failure to appear. Deputies obtained new warrants for possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled paraphernalia, identity theft and false identification based on the earlier traffic stop.

The deputies returned to the Days Inn and learned Smith was staying with Charles Gorham. Believe it or not, Gorham had active warrants from Virginia State Police for failing to register as a sex offender, a Fauquier warrant for failure to comply with pretrial and two bond revocations and 11 indictments for failure to appear from Spotsylvania.

On April 2nd at approximately 10:30 p.m. the Special Problems Unit witnessed both Smith and Gorham enter a motel room of the Days Inn. Contact was made at the room and both were arrested without incident. Smith and Gorham were each held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
