A Spotsylvania woman was arrested last night for DUI and child neglect after deputies found her passed out in a convenience store parking lot.

On February 15th at 9:37 p.m. Deputy B.M. Taylor responded to the Valero at 620 Cambridge Street for an unknown medical emergency. An employee of the store reported a female was unresponsive behind the wheel of a running vehicle in the parking lot.

Deputy Taylor arrived and found the car door was locked, but after a few minutes of banging on the window, the driver woke up. When asked to lower the window, she adjusted the radio controls and appeared confused. She finally lowered the window and was identified as Victoria Guthrie, 37. There was also a two-year-old child in a car seat in the backseat of the car.

Guthrie had glassy eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath. An open container of alcoholic beverage was in her cupholder. Field sobriety tests were administered and she was arrested.

The child was turned over to her father and Child Protective Services was notified of the incident. Guthrie was charged with DUI, child neglect and drinking while driving. She was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 bond.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
