Every day, our community members perform small acts of kindness that often go unnoticed.

So today, Sheriff David P. Decatur would like to recognize the selfless actions of a Stafford County resident whose simple act helped reunite a community member with their missing keys. Yesterday, a resident was riding his bike when a small object in the roadway caught his eye. He discovered the object was a set of keys including a key FOB belonging to a Nissan vehicle. He turned them into the Sheriff’s Office in hopes we could find the owner.

Shortly thereafter, Deputy Ferrell began searching neighborhoods surrounding the location where the keys were discovered. After some time, he passed a residence with a Nissan in the driveway and he pressed the lock button. The vehicle locked in response. The deputy made contact with the owner who was very appreciative and said she had been looking for the keys for days.

“Extraordinary things happen during some of the most ordinary moments in our daily lives,” said Sheriff Decatur. “We love seeing neighbors supporting neighbors, and our deputies always stand ready to assist in these efforts. Nothing makes us happier than connecting with the community we protect and serve.”
