Stafford, VA. A call for a welfare check on Friday regarding a toddler seen in the middle of the road led to the arrest of a suspect on drug charges by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

On April 13, 2018, Deputy M.L. Jacobeen responded to a call for a welfare check in the area of Stony Hill Road in the southern end of the county. The caller advised that the three year old son of one of the nearby residents was seen in the middle of the road.

Upon arriving at the residence, the deputy told the male subject who opened the door that he had received a call about a three year old boy in the middle of the street. The deputy requested to see the boy to conduct a safety check and he was led to the rear of the home. The child appeared unharmed.

While being led through the house, the deputy detected the smell of marijuana and observed drug paraphernalia on a shelf. He asked the subject whether there was marijuana in the residence. At first, the subject denied it, but eventually admitted to having some marijuana in the home.

During a search of the residence, deputies found marijuana and cocaine that appeared packaged for distribution as well as five firearms. Additional firearms and marijuana were also found in other rooms in the residence.

The subject, identified as Xavier Raquan King, 19, of Stafford, was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. He is charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm while in possession of drugs, and three charges for leaving a loaded firearm accessible to a child under 14 years of age.
