Stafford, VA. Deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a suspect last month for assaulting several employees at Fairfield Inn and Suites on Jefferson Davis Highway in Stafford.

On December 28, 2017, Deputy R.A. Weatherholtz responded to a disturbance at the hotel. The caller advised that several members of the cleaning crew had been assaulted by one of the hotel guests.

Upon arrival, the deputy learned that a maintenance worker had been assaulted by a man who was later identified as Lazarus David Wilson, 18. The deputy observed that the victim had several cuts on his face and his nose was swollen and bleeding. The victim’s shirt was ripped from the collar down. The deputy also learned that Wilson had chased two cleaning staff members down the hallway.

The victim told the deputy that a man was trying to get into one of the rooms and was banging at the door and screaming. The man asked the victim to let him into the room, and the victim advised that he’d have to go to the front desk to get a key. When the victim tried to use his radio to notify the front desk of the disturbance, the man grabbed the radio and repeatedly hit the victim in the face.

The deputy later discovered the suspect was wanted out of Prince William County and Stafford County on several charges including assault on a law enforcement officer, animal cruelty, possession of marijuana, and destruction of property. Wilson was located walking southbound on Jefferson Davis Highway and taken into custody. The suspect then provided false identification to the deputies.

Due to a capias out of Prince William County, the suspect was incarcerated at Rapphannock Regional Jail without bond. He is charged with assault and battery, disorderly conduct, obstruction of justice, false identity to a law enforcement officer, and identity theft to avoid arrest.
