September 27, 2017

On Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at approximately 8:30 a.m. deputies from the Stafford Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence in the northern part of Stafford County after receiving a tip that a wanted subject was in the area.

Deputies received information that Fredy Daniel Velasquez, Jr. was seen in the backyard of a townhome along the 400 block of Pinnacle Drive. Velasquez had several outstanding warrants for his arrest and had previously fled from deputies. Deputies quickly converged on the area and learned that Velasquez had run into the woods behind the townhome just prior to their arrival. A perimeter was established around the area while the Sheriff’s Office deployed its Unmanned Aircraft System also known as a “Drone.” The drone operator, Captain B.G. Worcester, quickly picked up a thermal image of an individual believed to be Velasquez hiding in the wooded area between Pinnacle Drive and Mine Road. Captain Worcester directed deputies to the exact location where they ultimately found Velasquez hiding under a tree. Velasquez was taken into custody without incident.

Fredy Daniel Velasquez, Jr. age 27 of Stafford was arrested on two outstanding Domestic A&B warrants as well as a Capias for failing to comply with pretrial supervision. Velasquez was brought before a magistrate where he was held without bond. He is currently incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
