If you call Wawa and the staff don’t pick up, you’ll know why shortly. One Woodbridge woman’s long term stay at Wawa turned into a long term stay at Rappahannock Regional Jail Saturday morning.

On March 30th at approximately 4:21 a.m. Deputy K.R. Sprinkles responded to Wawa, located at 105 Garrisonville Road, for a disturbance. Staff advised there was a woman who had been in the business since midnight, seemed intoxicated, and was refusing to return the business phone. If that wasn’t enough of a disturbance, she was now arguing with staff at the register and preventing other customers from being served.

When Deputy Sprinkles arrived, she observed a female matching the suspect description still at the registers. Despite staff seeing her consume Four Loko, and the clear signs of intoxication, the suspect denied being drunk. While it was evident this would be a public intoxication arrest there was still one matter to resolve, where was the phone.

The 34-year-old admitted to having the phone in her possession, inside her pants to be exact. After the extraction, the phone was returned to staff whether they wanted it or not. During a search incident to arrest, deputies also located suspected controlled substances.

The suspect was charged with possession of controlled substances, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct. During a strip search at Rappahannock Regional Jail, staff located additional items located within her. She was held on a $3,000 secured bond.
