A wanted and suspected armed and dangerous woman spotted at a local McDonald’s was detained after the quick thinking of deputies Saturday morning.

On March 23rd at approximately 1:47 a.m. deputies received information that a 43-year-old Pennsylvania woman was currently at McDonald’s, located at 900 Wonder Road. The suspect was wanted out of Pennsylvania for a felony weapons violation, and was noted to be possibly armed and dangerous. As deputies were arriving, they observed the suspect leaving in her Dodge Charger.

Deputies quickly got behind the vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop at the intersection of Miracle Drive and Courthouse Road. Instead of listening to deputies’ commands, the suspect refused to turn off her vehicle and exit the vehicle. Due to this and the information given, it was clear this was a barricade situation.

To prevent the suspect from turning this into a pursuit, deputies took preventive measures including setting up spike strips, and having the armored Bearcat go nose to nose with the vehicle. Despite the plethora of commands and being boxed in, the suspect still refused to comply. That is when deputies changed their strategy and deployed pepper ball shots within the vehicle. This was highly effective and moments afterwards the suspect retreated from the vehicle and into the arms of deputies where she was placed into handcuffs.

The suspect, Anya Dibiase, was charged with obstruction of justice and served on her outstanding warrant. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
