Left turns will be restricted due to intersection paving in Stafford County

FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists may experience brief delays along the Route 17 corridor in Stafford County today at the Commerce Parkway and Plantation Drive intersection.

Crews will be paving the middle of the intersection between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Route 17 traffic will be permitted to proceed in both directions while paving is underway. However, left turns onto Plantation Drive or Commerce Parkway will not be permitted.

Also, Plantation Drive traffic will not be permitted to turn left onto Route 17 southbound, and Commerce Parkway traffic will not be permitted to turn left onto Route 17 northbound.

Motorists attempting to turn left should proceed to next convenient intersection, where they can perform a U-turn to reach their destination.

Route 17 is being widened from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. The project’s estimated completion date is December 2016.

Thanksgiving Holiday

No work is scheduled to occur in the Route 17 widening work zone over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period between noon Wednesday, Nov. 25 and noon Monday, Nov. 30.
