The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Central Virginia Justice Initiative, is holding a special meeting, open to the media, on Human Trafficking at the Wingate Hotel, 20 Sanford Drive, Fredericksburg, Va. 22406 on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 9:00 am. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information on Human Trafficking on a global basis which will be presented by the Central Virginia Justice Initiative. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office will provide area motels and hotels with information that will help them identify specific characteristics, traits, behaviors and methodology that will help to ensure that the crime of Human Trafficking does not occur at hotels and motels in Stafford County.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office has used multiple resources in an effort to eliminate Human Trafficking – Prostitution in Stafford County. In addition, investigations by the Sheriff’s Office and information made available by the Central Virginia Justice Initiative have clearly shown that, often times, the women involved in this crime are victims themselves, controlled by individuals who use threats, coercion, drugs or physical abuse to keep these women in a crime that brings the controlling individual significant financial gain.

Working in partnership with area hotels and motels the Sheriff’s Office and the Central Virginia Justice Initiative are confident that this joint venture can make a very real difference in preventing the crime of Human Trafficking from taking a foothold in Stafford County.
