The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of David John Marcussen, age 33, of 635 Village Parkway, Fredericksburg. David Marcussen has been charged with 1 Count of Felony Murder, 1 Count of Involuntary Manslaughter, 2 Counts of Cruelty to Children and 1 Count of Child Neglect. Mr. Marcussen turned himself into the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, April 17, 2015. He is currently incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

On Tuesday, January 6, 2015 Detective Christine Hammond received a call from Stafford County Child Protective Services stating that they had received information that an 11 month old baby boy had been brought to an area hospital with burns to his face, torso and neck. After an evaluation by that hospital the baby was air-lifted to MCV Hospital in Richmond.

Detective Hammond initiated an investigation which determined that the child received the burns while receiving a bath from his foster father, David Marcussen. The now 12 month old baby boy, died on February 1, 2015 at the hospital. The child has been identified as Ka’ron Mason. Ka’ron had been with his foster family since July of 2014. David Marcussen was indicted by a Stafford County Special Grand Jury on Friday, April 17, 2015.
