ROAD REPAIR BEGINS ON ROUTE 631 (COAL LANDING ROAD) IN STAFFORD Traffic reduced to a single lane for next two weeks during daytime hours
FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists may encounter brief delays over the next two weeks on Route 631 (Coal Landing Road) in Stafford County, in the vicinity of Greenridge Drive.
Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in the work zone between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, Monday-Saturday. The project is scheduled to end on Saturday, Feb. 22.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is stabilizing an embankment along Coal Landing Road, and re-paving a portion of the road. Specialized equipment, a soil nail launcher, will create a retaining wall by drilling holes beneath the roadway, and inserting steel rods into the ground. The rods are covered with a mesh wire net and anchored with bolts. The entire surface is then covered with shotcrete, a concrete material. Work must be performed during daytime hours, when temperatures are warm enough for the concrete substance to properly set, holding the retaining wall in place.
Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone.
This work has been scheduled weather permitting, and inclement weather may extend the project schedule beyond Feb. 22.
Real-time listings of work zones, traffic incidents and travel times in Virginia are available on VDOT’s 24-hour traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also access 511Virginia by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia. |
