Stafford, Va. The Stafford County Sheriff's Office reports the arrest of Craig Patrick McSween, age 38 of 18 Galt Way, Stafford. Craig McSween has been charged with 1 Count of Impersonating an Officer, 1 Count of Brandishing a Firearm and 1 Count of Driving on a Suspended License. Craig McSween has been released from the Rappahannock Regional Jail on bond.

On Saturday, May 7, 2011 at approximately 12:15 PM deputies responded to a complaint from a citizen who told the deputies that he had come upon Craig McSweens's vehicle in the Foxwood Village subdivision, driving very slowly. The citizen went around the vehicle and went to his residence. At that point the citizen told the deputies that McSween slowly drove by his residence and displayed a badge. Shortly after that McSween came back to the residence, exited his vehicle, and pulling up his shirt a bit, displaying a handgun on his hip. McSween allegedly told the citizen that he was driving recklessly and that he worked for a federal law enforcement agency. When the citizen asked to see his credentials McSween left the seen.

Deputy Sandy Lawrence spotted McSween's vehicle as she was responding to the call and Craig McSween was taken into custody without incident. Inside of McSween's silver Chevy Impala was found several badges, a tactical vest, a second handgun and red and white lights on the dashboard of the car. McSween did have a handgun in his possession when arrested.

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office is requesting that if any citizen has been approached by Craig McSween acting as a law enforcement officer to contact the Sheriff's Office at 540-658-4400.
