| STAFFORD, Va. — On March 2, 2026, Sue and Mark Baker, the parents of the late Amy Baker, presented the Stafford County Animal Shelter with a donation of $5,525 to honor their daughter and her love for animals.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office joined the Stafford County Animal Shelter for the presentation of the donation.
Amy Baker, 18, was abducted and murdered in Fairfax, Virginia, on March 29, 1989. A Stafford County Sheriff’s Office cold case investigation found evidence collected 40 years ago that matched a suspect in Baker’s murder. That suspect was identified as Elroy Harrison, who was found guilty in Stafford Circuit Court for the 1986 murder of Jacqueline Lard.
The Bakers took the original reward fund that was established for Amy and, in turn, donated that money to the Stafford County Animal Shelter.
Amy had a passion for animals, which was shared with her loving parents. Through this gift, Amy’s compassion will continue to touch lives in every rescued animal and animals in need of care.
