| On October 21, 2025, deputies responded to the 600 block of Mountain View Road for a shooting. A caller advised that a co-worker was on scene at the location to perform work when they heard shots being fired over the open phone call with the co-worker. The caller advised that they were no longer able to get in contact with the co-worker.
Deputies quickly responded to the scene and observed an adult male lying in the driveway unresponsive. Deputies established a perimeter due to not knowing where the shooter was located. Deputies noticed movement inside of the residence and began communicating with the subject. After a brief stand-off, deputies were able to detain the subject without incident. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim was identified as Michael Dodge II, 35, of Caroline County. It was confirmed that the victim was on the property to perform work for a mortgage company.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, who was staying at the residence, shot the victim multiple times. As a result, the suspect, identified as Donald Thomas, 64, of Stafford was arrested and charged with first degree murder and unlawfully shooting or wounding in the commission of a felony. Thomas was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond. |
