| On October 16, 2025, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Sergeant S. C. Jett was patrolling the area of Richmond Highway and Butler Road. Sergeant Jett observed a red Volkswagen Jetta make a turn onto Warrenton Road. As the Jetta was making the turn, it went over the fog line almost striking the guardrail. The vehicle continued to travel northbound on Warrenton Road. Sergeant Jett initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle on Warrenton Road. As Sergeant Jett was beginning to approach the vehicle, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. A pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle continued to flee northbound on Warrenton Road, drifting back and forth between lanes and continuing to drive at high speeds. The vehicle then abruptly got onto I-95 and continued to flee in the northbound lanes. The vehicle eventually exited onto Courthouse Road. In the area of Courthouse Road and Wonder Road, Sergeant Jett made intentional vehicle contact, bringing the pursuit to end. The driver immediately fled from the vehicle. The suspect was eventually apprehended in a retention pond in a nearby area. The suspect was identified as Gregory O’Neal, 35, of Spotsylvania, Virginia.
A search of the suspect’s vehicle yielded suspected controlled substances. O’Neal was arrested and charged with felony eluding, driving under the influence of drugs, obstruction of justice, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, no front license plate, failure to obey a traffic light, failure to register the vehicle, possessing fictitious registration, and failure to maintain the lane of travel. O’Neal was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond. |
