| The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office needs your help locating Zachary Saunders, 39, of Stafford.
On September 2nd at approximately 9:33 a.m. deputies responded to the England Run Subdivision for a report of a disturbance with a weapon. Deputy M.N. Sayegh made contact with the victim to discover what occurred as additional deputies began canvassing the area. Out of an abundance of caution and due to its close proximity, Gayle Middle School was placed into a secure posture.
It was discovered the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with a male she knew as “Junior.” During the altercation, Junior would assault the victim, take her firearm, and proceed to brandish it at her and juvenile inside the residence. Luckily, the victim was able to flee the residence with the juvenile.
The suspect fled on foot prior to deputies’ arrival. Deputies were able to identify the suspect as Zachary Saunders. Saunders was discovered to be a convicted felon and had several outstanding warrants from surrounding jurisdictions. He would flee with the victim’s firearm.
For this incident, Saunders is currently wanted for assault and battery, simple assault, two counts of brandishing a firearm, reckless handling of a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and grand larceny.
