Yesterday, we reported on Deputy D.S. Jett finding a DUI driver at America’s Best Wings. This time, Deputy Jett found narcotics at America’s Best Value Inn.

On July 28th at approximately 9:25 p.m. Deputy Jett was patrolling America’s Best Value Inn, located at 605 Warrenton Road. While doing so, he observed a male sitting in a Honda. Being the Drug Recognition Expert that he is, Deputy Jett quickly observed several apparent signs that the male was under the influence and decided to have a conversation with him.

The male, identified as Rene Lopez Echeverria, 39, of Stafford, advised he was waiting for his friend who walked to a nearby store. While conversing with Echeverria, Deputy Jett observed a suspected controlled substance on the floorboard. Echeverria would also give consent for the vehicle to be searched. This would lead to additional suspected controlled substances being located.

While searching the vehicle, Echeverria’s friend had returned. This friend was identified as Victor Villanueva Lopez, 33, of Stafford. Lopez had signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming “six beers.” He would give consent to be searched and while doing so Deputy Jett located his wallet. Upon opening it, a cloud of white powder puffed into the air. He too was detained.

Both Echeverria and Lopez were charged with public intoxication and possession of controlled substances. They both were held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,500 secured bond.
