A second offense DUI driver crashed her vehicle with children in the backseat in South Stafford.
On May 26th, at approximately 8:37 p.m., Deputy H.H. Cassetta responded to Forest Lane Road for a single vehicle auto accident. It was advised a Chevrolet had left the roadway and entered a ditch. When Deputy Cassetta arrived, he made contact with the driver and two infants, who were located in the backseat. Amazingly, no one was injured.
It was discovered the vehicle had drifted off the roadway and struck a few bushes before the driver overcorrected, making her cut across the roadway and end up in the ditch. The driver was identified as Oluwakemi Oredugba, 43, of Stafford. Oredugba advised she “did not know” how she ended up in the ditch. Deputy Cassetta noticed signs of intoxication, including the heavy odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. Oredugba would also have no inspection, an open bottle of Hennessy, and a prior DUI. The children were turned over to a responsible family member.
Oredugba was charged with driving under the influence second offense in ten years, two counts of driving under the influence with children present, two counts of child neglect, drinking while driving, reckless driving, having no inspection, and refusal. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
