A 24-year-old New York man attempted to flee from deputies Saturday night resulting in his arrest.
On May 24th, at approximately 8:37 p.m., deputies were patrolling Garrisonville Road. While doing so, they observed a luxury Italian sports car traveling at a high rate of speed turn off from Mine Road onto Westbound Garrisonville Road. Due to the extreme speeds, the vehicle slid as it turned and deputies could hear the tires screech. Deputies activated their emergency equipment in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop. The driver would start braking, but quickly change his mind and instead continued on, kicking off a pursuit.
The suspect driver would abruptly turn onto Doc Stone Road as deputies began to converge. The suspect driver would pass two other vehicles in his escape attempt before making a quick turn onto Worth Avenue. With not many places to go from there, the suspect pulled into Fatty’s Winghouse, located at 308 Worth Avenue. Deputies conducted a high-risk stop and detained both occupants.
The driver was identified as Breno Pinheiro. Pinheiro advised his erratic driving was a result of him “trying to show off.” He was charged with felony eluding and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 secured bond. |
