A fight on Quarry Road quickly got out of hand resulting in a 38-year-old Stafford man behind bars.
On May 20th at approximately 8:55 p.m. Deputy K.F. Bierfeldt responded to Quarry Road for a fight in progress. The fight involved two males, one of which, Deputy Bierfeldt quickly identified due to prior incidents. After all parties were separated, those involved, and witnesses, were interviewed. It was discovered the suspect was involved in a verbal dispute with his girlfriend. Three friends arrived at the residence in an attempt to mediate; however, this would have the opposite effect. One of the friends got into another verbal dispute with the suspect. That is when the suspect assaulted him, strangled him, and made threats to “kill him.” Luckily, one of the bystanders jumped into action and was able to pull the suspect off the victim.
The suspect was identified as Joshua Sims. He was charged with malicious wounding and strangulation. After being rather verbally aggressive towards the magistrate and Deputy Bierfeldt he was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. |
