On May 5th at approximately 2:00 p.m. a deputy was at North Stafford High School conducting his SRO duties. While monitoring dismissal, he noticed a large-scale commotion occurring. A fight between students had just started.
The deputy, along with school staff, attempted to deescalate the situation by separating the parties involved. In the process, both the deputy and a staff member were assaulted. Eventually, all parties were separated and no injuries were reported. As a result, one student received a criminal complaint for assault and battery on law enforcement. Additional criminal complaints for the other students involved are pending.
As the school year draws to a close, we want to remind all students the importance of finishing the year off on a good note. Staying focused and being accountable for one’s actions can help ensure a safe learning environment for everyone. We want to thank Stafford County Public Schools for their on-going partnership in achieving this goal.
