A traffic stop in South Stafford resulted in two wanted suspects and controlled substances being located.

On April 28th at approximately 7:59 p.m. Sergeant B.U. Demirci and Deputy D.S. Jett were on Chatham Heights Road when they observed a Toyota Camry. This Camry caught their attention due to the fact it had an expired registration, no inspection sticker, and the trunk was being held closed with nothing but a cord. For obvious reasons, a traffic stop was conducted.

Deputies made contact with the occupants. The driver was identified as Andre Bennett, 44, of King George, the front passenger was identified as Tony Jones, 33, of Stafford, and the rear passenger was identified as Selena Dowd, 20, of Spotsylvania. Bennett did not have a valid driver’s license. Jones would provide a false identification and was discovered to be wanted for a capias offense. Dowd was discovered to also be wanted for a felony probation violation. During a search of the vehicle, suspected controlled substances were located.

Bennett was charged with possession of controlled substances, driving without a driver’s license, having no inspection, and having an expired registration. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $7,500 secured bond. Jones was charged with possession of controlled substances, providing a false identity to law enforcement, identity theft to avoid arrest, as well as, served on his outstanding warrant. He was held without bond. Dowd was served on her outstanding warrant and also held without bond.
