A 26-year-old Stafford man was arrested for trafficking and selling of controlled substances thanks to detectives with the Special Investigations Unit.

Since November, detectives with the Special Investigations Unit have been investigating a potential cocaine dealer operating in Stafford County. Due to their constant efforts to remove controlled substances off the streets of Stafford, they were able to identify Joshua Daniels as a person of interest. As a result of their investigation into Daniels, a warrant for the distribution of controlled substances was obtained.

Late last week, detectives with the Special Investigations Unit, as well as, deputies with both the Special Problems Unit and K-9 Team, conducted a traffic stop on Daniels’ vehicle on I-95 near mile marker 140. Daniels was confirmed to be the driver and was taken into custody without incident. When he was informed that Deputy F.A. Martinez’s K-9 partner, Mija, would be conducting an exterior sniff of the vehicle, Daniels admitted to having “a lot of cocaine.”

It was discovered Daniels was actively transporting cocaine from New York into the Commonwealth. Over 16 ounces of cocaine were seized. That is equivalent to approximately $44,800 in street value. An additional warrant for drug trafficking was obtained. Daniels was served on both warrants and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Another outstanding arrest made thanks to the detectives, once again sending the clear message that drug dealers should stay out of Stafford County.
