Four mailboxes were brutally massacred by a drunk Woodbridge driver early Saturday morning.

On November 18th at approximately 1:00 a.m. Deputy N.J. Amato responded to the intersection of Little Whim Road and White Oak Road for a report of a reckless hit and run driver. The caller advised he observed a vehicle strike a median before plowing down four mailboxes and nearly striking his vehicle in the process. Due to the damages to the vehicle, it would only travel a little ways further before breaking down.

When Deputy Amato arrived on scene, he observed the broken, battered, and bruised scraps of mailboxes littered across the street. He then made contact with the 24-year-old driver who was still seated in her vehicle. The driver advised she was coming home from a birthday party and was “just really tired”. This not being Deputy Amato’s first day on the job thought alcohol might have been a more likely culprit due to the signs of intoxication he observed.

After conducting field sobriety tests, the driver was taken into custody. She was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2, destruction of property, reckless driving, and failure to maintain the lane of travel. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,500 secured bond.
