A 28-year-old Manassas man made the poor choice to not only drink and drive, but to do so while passing Deputy S. Waheed on the shoulder.
On October 21st at approximately 6:14 p.m. Deputy Waheed was traveling Southbound on I-95 when he heard the unmistakable roaring of an engine quickly approaching him from the rear. The suspect vehicle would pass Deputy Waheed at a high rate of speed on the shoulder before proceeding to bounce between lanes without using a turn signal. Deputy Waheed conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at mile marker 146 and made contact with the driver.
The driver advised he was in a rush to get to Kings Dominion. The Fright Fest would have to be put on hold as Deputy Waheed noticed multiple signs of him being under the influence, as well as, a fraudulent inspection sticker.
The driver was charged with driving under the influence, displaying a false inspection sticker, failure to use a turn signal, and refusal. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.
Drive sober or get pulled over. |
