An intoxicated 22-year-old Stafford man refused to exit the trunk of a vehicle, and instead assaulted deputies.

On October 7th at approximately 11:51 p.m. Deputies responded to the Courtyard Marriott, located at 375 Corporate Drive, for an unknown medical emergency. The caller advised there was a heavily intoxicated male laying in the trunk of their Ford Mustang. When Deputies arrived, they located Alexander Shea still lying within the trunk.

Medical staff advised Shea was not cooperating and he was indeed intoxicated. It was later discovered he drank 10 beers prior to the incident. Deputies, medics, and even family members attempted to have Shea to come out with no avail. Shea had to be extracted from the vehicle, during which he began to resist. His resistance continued as he assaulted two deputies.

Shea was charged with two counts of assault and battery on law enforcement, obstruction of justice, and public intoxication. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.
