A 24-year-old Stafford man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a call of a disturbance uncovered serious accusations.

On August 22nd at approximately 4:27 p.m. Deputy W.A. Bolinsky responded to the England Run North Apartments for a disturbance. The victim advised two weeks ago she met her current partner, Jayshaun Cooper. During that time, Cooper held her against her will, threatened her, and as of that morning, assaulted her.

Deputy Bolinsky located Cooper in the victim’s residence and detained him. During their conversation, Cooper denied the allegations and advised “everything is good”. Deputy Bolinsky was able to locate witnesses to corroborate the victim’s statements, proving not everything was in fact good. Cooper was charged with assault and battery, as well as, abduction by force. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

For those in an abusive situation, there is always help available. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office has resources to help victims through difficult times like these.
