A 19-year-old Oakton woman was arrested Sunday morning after an off-duty King George officer observed her vehicle stopped in the roadway. Luckily, Sergeant M.E. Gordon was there in a flash.

On August 6th at approximately 12:41 a.m. Sergeant Gordon was traveling eastbound and down Kings Highway when she observed a King George officer traveling westbound that waved for her attention. Sergeant Gordon made contact with the officer who advised the vehicle in front of him was swerving and they both had witnessed it stopped in the middle of the roadway. Due to this, Sergeant Gordon conducted a traffic stop on Ferry Road as Deputy M.A. Holub responded to assist.

The driver had pinpoint pupils and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. After conducting field sobriety tests, Deputy Holub arrested her for driving under the influence. A search of her vehicle resulted in cans of empty Jack Daniel’s being located. That was a problem for the underage driver; however, the suspected controlled substances also located would be more of a problem.

The driver was charged with driving after illegally consuming alcohol, possession of controlled substances, drinking while operating a vehicle, and stopping on a highway. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $6,000 secured bond.

Drive sober or get pulled over.
