A Stafford man faces serious charges after a disturbance in North Stafford last night that resulted in two deputies being assaulted and a damaged patrol car.

On July 27th at 8:50 p.m. deputies responded to a disturbance on Steven Circle. The investigation revealed an intoxicated resident, 40-year-old Kevin Jones, was destroying property and had assaulted another resident in the home.

While Jones was initially jovial with law enforcement, his demeanor quickly changed when Deputy C.C. Crossett informed him he was under arrest. The calm of the mobile home park was disrupted as Jones cursed a blue streak and had to be carried to the patrol car by Deputy Crossett and Deputy K.L. Steffenhagen.

Jones refused to get in the rear of the patrol car and Sergeant E.E. West provided the needed assistance to restrain Jones in the backseat. Jones proceeded with Wreck-It Ralph behavior, kicking the patrol car door until the window was dislodged and the frame was bent outwards. During the ensuing attempt to restrain Jones, two of the deputies were assaulted. Fortunately, neither deputy suffered serious injury.

Jones was charged with assault and battery, assault and battery on law enforcement, vandalism and obstruction. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
