a 20-year-old Spotsylvania woman was located just outside of Stafford County after allegedly assaulting a Stafford resident with a knife.

On July 24th at approximately 6:00 p.m. Deputy C.M. Sterne responded to a residence on Truslow Road for a previously occurred disturbance. The victim advised the day prior he evicted a couple that was living in a shed on his property. Around 1:00 a.m. on July 24th the couple returned resulting in a verbal argument. During the exchange of words, the female, identified as Stephanie Lemus Perez, pulled out a knife and assaulted the victim with it.

The victim sustained minor injuries that were still visible to Deputy Sterne. After gathering information on Perez, Deputy Sterne obtained a warrant for malicious wounding from the magistrate.

Perez was located at the Sunoco gas station in Fredericksburg. With the assistance of the Fredericksburg Police Department, Perez was arrested without incident. During a search incident to arrest, Deputy Sterne located suspected controlled substances in her bag that she claimed she found it at Taco bell. Considering controlled substances aren’t on their menu, Deputy Sterne had doubts. She would soon be thinking outside the bun, from inside the jail.

Perez was served on her outstanding malicious wounding charge from the day prior, as well as, additionally charged with possession of controlled substances. She was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Great work to everyone involved, and thank you to the Fredericksburg Police Department for your assistance.
