A wanted Stafford man was located and arrested after a wheel big larceny in North Stafford.

On June 9th at approximately 8:58 p.m., Deputy K.L. Steffenhagen responded to Target, located at 1090 Stafford Market Place, for a report of a larceny. Store staff advised a male walked out of the store with a scooter worth approximately $580 a few minutes prior. After reviewing camera footage of the larceny, Deputy Steffenhagen began canvassing the area.

Behind a nearby shipping container, Deputy Steffenhagen located the broken remains of the stolen scooter package. Another deputy in the area advised her they had observed a male similar to the suspect by Old Navy. The suspect was still in the area when Deputy Steffenhagen made contact with him; however, the suspect had on different clothing.

While conversing with the suspect, Demarko Shamsiddin, 30, it was discovered he was wanted out of Stafford for trespassing. During a search incident to arrest, Deputy Steffenhagen not only located the clothes he wore during the larceny, but also suspected controlled substances.

While the suspect stole some wheels, he was wheeled to Rappahannock Regional Jail free of charge. While being processed, jail staff located additional suspected controlled substances hidden very close on his person, adding a felony charge. Shamsiddin was charged with larceny, possession of controlled substances, and prisoner in possession of controlled substances. He was held without bond.

Luckily, the stolen scooter was located near Michael’s, and was turned back over to Target staff.
