Someone in Rappahannock Regional Jail received a new roommate after a Stafford woman assaulted her previous roommate with a knife.

On April 27th at approximately 12:39 a.m. Deputy N.J. Amato responded to an address in South Stafford for a call of a disturbance. It was advised one roommate went after another with a knife. Due to the seriousness of the offense, deputies responded quickly to the address. When Deputy Amato arrived on scene, he was met by a witness who advised the parties were now separated, and the knife was secure. The suspect was identified as Heather Iverson, 42.

The investigation revealed Iverson arrived at the residence and consumed a few alcoholic beverages. Iverson then confronted the victim about ride issues and in the process, threw multiple items at him. The victim attempted to calm down Iverson; however, it had the opposite effect. Iverson grabbed a kitchen knife and came towards the victim with it. The victim was luckily able to disarm her in self-defense.

Iverson, who appeared intoxicated due to her glassy eyes and odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath, was less than cooperative throughout the investigation. She was charged with assault and battery, as well as, attempted malicious wounding. Iverson was transported to the magistrate’s office, but had to be removed due to her demeanor. After a bit of a time out, she was allowed to reenter, where it was determined she would be held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
