A Norfolk woman earned extra charges Thursday after deciding halfway through her hearing, that she no longer wanted to be there.

On April 6th at approximately 1:15 p.m. court was in session. Erica Wilson, 24, was before Judge Johnson for assault and battery, as well as, larceny charges. In the middle of her case, Wilson suddenly walked out. Considering her case was not yet concluded, Judge Johnson requested deputies have her return to the courtroom. Deputies caught up to her and requested her to return; however, she kept walking.

When deputies attempted to physically stop her, she resisted. Wilson would continue to resist all the way back to Judge Johnson. Considering her less than corporative behavior, Judge Johnson held her in contempt of court. Now that it was time to leave for the Rappahannock Regional Jail, Wilson refused. She once again had to be escorted out. During her resisting, she assaulted two deputies and shouted racial slurs.

Deputies transported Wilson to Rappahannock Regional Jail where she was charged with two counts of assault and battery on law enforcement, as well as, obstruction of justice. These three charges were added onto the charges she was in court for today. She was held without bond.
